Istanbul born Serkan Mesut Halili, is current representative of an ancient instrument, which is known as “Kanun”.

Halili, studied at Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory Instrumental Performance Department and completed his middle school, high school and college education, graduated from ITU in 2008. Then, completed master degree in 2013 and DMA (doctor of musical arts) 2018 at Halic University Institute Of Graduate Education. During his education, he began performing with different orchestras and artists in several venues, renowned halls and festivals. André Rieu, Kudsi Erguner, Fazıl Say, Burhan Ocal, Ara Dinkjian, Onnik Dinkjian, Renaud Garcia-Fons, Zülfü Livaneli, Pera Ensemble, EnsembleVariances, Hezarfen Ensemble, L’arte Del Mondo, Trickster Orchestra, Young Euro Classic, Edinburgh Festival, Heidelberger Frühling, Sydney Opera House, Metropolitan Museum, Miho Museum, Konzerthaus Berlin, Münchner Philharmoniker, Radio France are the artists, organizations, venues and groups he worked with.

Beside playing Kanun in classical style in Turkish and Ottoman music, Halili has also expanded Kanun play in unconventional style including but not limited to contemporary and western classical music, ladino, rembetico.

He is a member as an Assistant Professor Doctor in Kanun, at ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory Instrumental Performance Department.
